A comprehensive team for your complete rehabilitation

Our multidisciplinary team aids in heart disease recovery and management and includes a dietitian, pharmacist, counselor, physical therapist and respiratory therapist. Together, they help make up our nationally certified, patient-centered program that emphasizes a personalized approach to heart recovery through the key components of exercise, education and encouragement. The program features:

  • Closely monitored exercise sessions
  • Active family involvement through support groups and educational classes
  • Individual consultations and group seminars that focus on management of heart disease, diet changes, exercise and risk factors (cholesterol, stress, smoking, high blood pressure)

Your healing and education process starts in the hospital and is then maintained through an ongoing outpatient program. Family members or friends are welcome to attend these classes with you.

According to published evidence, there are numerous, substantial benefits of cardiac rehabilitation, including:

  • Improved tolerance of exercise and daily activities
  • Improved symptoms (such as shortness of breath)
  • Improved blood lipid levels (cholesterol readings)
  • Improved general well-being and self-esteem
  • Reduced cigarette smoking
  • Reduced risk of fatal heart attack

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has three distinct phases:

While you are in the hospital, you will be provided with education tailored to meet your individual needs to help you start and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Each cardiac patient receives education and materials on:

  • Self-care and recovery
  • How to live a healthier lifestyle by decreasing your cardiac risk factors
  • Nutrition
  • Activity
  • Cardiac resources and other follow-up materials

Our outpatient program helps you participate in your own recovery shortly after leaving the hospital.
